CN 235 general



1.           AIRCRAFT GENERAL

The CN-235 is a pressurized twin-turboprop aircraft with a high cantilever wing and retractable tricycle undercarriage.
The CN-235-is an aircraft whose purpose is military transport on short and a medium range routes; certified for day or night flights and in visual (VFR) or instrument (IFR) flight conditions.
The aircraft is powered by two General Electric CT7-9C turboprops which drive Hamilton Standard 14RF-21 four-blade reverse-pitch propellers.
1.1      INTERIOR FURNISHINGS
1.1.1   Flight Compartment
The Flight compartment is furnished for two pilots, with the Pilot seat on the left-hand side and the Copilot seat on the right-hand side. There is also a third seat provided for an observer or third crew-member Flight Engineer to the rear of the pedestal.
All the controls, indicators, and instruments are arranged so that their access and visibility are easy and quick for the crew.
The faces of the instruments are black and the pointers and marking are white so as to be easily visible in daylight without artificial light. The limits on the instruments are red, the caution zones are yellow (amber), the normal operation zones are green.
The flight compartment has two windows which can be easily opened from the inside. These allow a view of the rear fuselage and also provide an emergency exit for the crew.
There is an audio control panel, a jack box and an oxygen outlet for the third crew-member/observer.
1.1.2  Passenger/Cargo Compartment
The cargo compartment can be fitted-out to suit the type of mission to be done. For this it has a series of anchor-points distributed over its length where seats, stretchers, a roller system, etc. can be attached.
The access to the cargo compartment is through the side doors and through the ramp.
Next to the crew access door and at the rear of the aircraft there are a series of controls and indicators for communications, the connection of lights, to open the ramp, and to drop paratroops.
